Offering a reality check to NextGen IT workforce

Are IT students ready to become IT leaders of tomorrow? What they don't know may hurt them and us!

Real-IT-y is an AVVAL Initiative that is dedicated to inspire our NextGen IT workforce to talk and interact with a variety of IT professionals in an open panel discussion. These panel discussions provide real-life Information Technology career path information, while offering some insight on future IT job trends to allow the IT students the chance to add that dimension of practical "Real-IT-y" to the concepts they are learning in school.

During the past year, AVVAL has been bringing local colleges and universities career panel presentations to those interested in pursuing careers in the field of Information Technology. Technology leaders from local enterprises have expressed their interest to participate in the Real-IT-y events as their commitment in helping serve as role models, coaches and mentors for our next generation of US IT workers.

In the midst of the US facing increased global competition, many IT college students graduate without a clear idea of what it takes to gain entry into available IT jobs and how to succeed once in a new position. We recognized that we need to get our next generation of IT professionals ready to hit the ground running! Individual responsibility is the key, but open and honest communication from leaders in the IT field is the solution to help prepare our NextGen IT workforce.
